Court Rejects Curbs on Release of Crash Data Information that automobile and tire manufacturers submit to the government about crashes resulting in death, injury and property damage must be released to the public under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia has ruled. Gas Pill Busted in Texas The Texas Attorney General has taken aim at a little pill described as a "top secret" gasoline additive that will boost mileage and cut polluting emissions. Gas Prices Rise Like a 4th of July Rocket The average price for a gallon of gasoline in creeping toward $3 again with drivers now paying an average $2.93 for regular as the Fourth of July holiday comes to an end. NHTSA Gives 2006 SUVs High Marks The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that rollover ratings for 2006 SUVs show "a marked improvement over 2005 models." NHTSA says the gains are due to the increased number of SUVs with electronic stability control in 2006. Toyota Builds More Efficient Gasoline Engines Toyota, already the world leader in gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles, says it has designed a new family of fuel-efficient gasoline-powered engines that will be cleaner and more efficient than their predecessors.
